JUNE 10: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha inaugurated a comprehensive welfare initiative in Jammu, marking a significant step forward in the government’s ongoing efforts to promote inclusivity, dignity, and empowerment for persons with disabilities (Divyangjan). The event featured a large-scale distribution of assistive devices and appliances under the Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) scheme and the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana (RVY).

Hundreds of beneficiaries from across the region received mobility aids and supportive equipment, enhancing their independence and quality of life. The LG emphasized that these initiatives reflect the administration’s commitment to creating a society where no one is left behind, especially those with special needs.

In a parallel welfare move, LG Sinha disbursed ₹6.14 crore in pension arrears to 12,660 beneficiaries under the Integrated Social Security Scheme (ISSS), ensuring timely financial support to the elderly, widows, and persons with disabilities. The distribution of these long-overdue benefits represents a critical step in strengthening social safety nets across Jammu and Kashmir.

Further reinforcing the social welfare infrastructure, the Lieutenant Governor inaugurated a 50-bed Half-Way Home for mental health rehabilitation. This facility aims to support individuals undergoing recovery from mental health challenges by providing structured transitional care. The Half-Way Home will serve as a bridge between treatment and reintegration into society, addressing a long-standing gap in mental health services.

Additionally, LG Sinha inaugurated the Parisha Child Care Institution for Girls, a dedicated shelter offering a safe, nurturing environment for vulnerable and at-risk girls. The facility is designed to provide comprehensive care, including education, healthcare, and emotional support, as part of a broader child protection initiative.

In his address, LG Sinha reiterated the government’s resolve to empower the marginalized through sustained investment in healthcare, social security, and inclusive development. He stressed the importance of compassion-driven governance and the role of community participation in building an equitable society.

These initiatives underscore the Jammu & Kashmir administration’s commitment to holistic development and the creation of a support system that prioritizes care, inclusion, and dignity for all citizens—especially the most vulnerable.
