APRIL 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Fire & Emergency Services Department is enthusiastically observing Fire Service Week from April 14 to April 20, 2025, with a series of engaging and skill-enhancing activities across the Union Territory.
As part of the weeklong celebration, a grand Range-Level Sports and Drill Competition was organized today at the Fire Training Centre (FTC), Bari Brahmna. The event aimed at strengthening the physical fitness, discipline, coordination, and team spirit of fire service personnel through various competitive and recreational events.
The program witnessed the participation of around 150 personnel from different Fire & Emergency Services Commands of both Jammu and Kashmir provinces. Competitions included Fire Drills, Volleyball, Tug of War, Badminton, and Cricket matches. The events served not only as a platform for showcasing physical strength and agility but also as a way to build camaraderie among the personnel.
In the Volleyball final, Command Ramban emerged victorious, defeating Jammu Command, which settled for the runner-up position. The Fire Drill competition saw Jammu Command securing the top spot, followed by Udhampur/Reasi Command in second place, and Doda/Kishtwar Command in third.
The Tug of War final was won by Udhampur/Reasi Command, while Rajouri/Poonch Command took the second spot. In Badminton, the first position was clinched by Udhampur/Reasi Command, with Samba/Kathua Command as runner-up. In the Cricket match, the host team FTC Bari Brahmna claimed victory, with Rest of Jammu finishing as runners-up.
The events were held under the guidance of Alok Kumar, IPS, Additional Director General of Police and Director, Fire & Emergency Services J&K, and were presided over by R.K. Raina, Deputy Director, Fire & Emergency Services Command, Jammu.
The competition was judged by a panel of esteemed jury members including Dr. Manju (Medical Officer, Medical Unit Gandhinagar), Sarvesh Langer (Assistant Director, Command Udhampur), Himanshu Gandotra (Principal, FTC Bari Brahmna), and S. Mandeep Singh (Foreman, Regional Workshop Jammu). The program was smoothly conducted by Kanwal Peshin, In-charge DFO Trainings, and Sunil Dutt.
Winners were felicitated with trophies and mementos presented by the Chief Guest. The Fire Service Week will conclude on April 20, 2025, with a lecture on drug abuse awareness and cultural programs at Headquarters Gandhinagar.
