MARCH 19: The 4th Half Marathon, organized by the Central Civil Services Cultural & Sports Board (CCSCSB) under the auspices of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) in collaboration with the Youth Hostel Association of India (YHAI), was successfully held on 16th March 2025 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. The event aimed to promote physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle among all age groups, from 10 to 60 years, featuring three race categories—21 km, 10 km, and 5 km.
A total of 1,072 participants, including 833 males and 239 females, took part in the marathon, showcasing their enthusiasm and dedication to fitness. The event was graced by notable guests, including Shri Praveen Kumar, an accomplished Indian Paralympic athlete, who served as the Guest of Honour. Shri Kumar, a recipient of the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award (2024) and the Arjuna Award (2021), has earned national pride with his remarkable performances in international competitions. His inspiring presence motivated participants, particularly the younger generation, to pursue sports and fitness with passion.
The event was flagged off by the Joint Secretary (Welfare) DoPT and Director (Welfare) DoPT, along with senior YHAI officials. The marathon witnessed enthusiastic participation from government officials, and all races were completed on time, ensuring the event’s overall success. The organizing committee made comprehensive arrangements for the participants, including registration counters, baggage storage, help desks, warm-up and Zumba areas, cool-down zones, and refreshments. A team of physiotherapists, along with medical staff and ambulances, were stationed both at the stadium and along the marathon route for participants’ safety and convenience.
The race concluded with medals awarded to all finishers. Additionally, the winners in each category were presented with trophies and prize cheques. A total of 18 winners, comprising 9 males and 9 females, were honored in the 21 km, 10 km, and 5 km categories.
In his address, Shri Praveen Kumar applauded the participants’ commitment and enthusiasm, encouraging them to maintain an active lifestyle and take up sports as a means of personal development. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all participants, volunteers, and organizers for making the 4th Half Marathon a resounding success.
