Surinder Choudhary Chairs RKS Meeting, Discusses Patient Care and Healthcare Upgrades

MARCH 4: Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, reaffirmed his government’s commitment to upgrading healthcare infrastructure across the region, emphasizing that quality healthcare services are being provided to the people, particularly in rural and far-flung areas. He made these remarks during a meeting of the “Rogi Kalyan Samiti” (RKS), held to review the functioning and patient care facilities available at Sub District Hospital (SDH) Nowshera.

Choudhary, who also serves as the Chairman of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti, was briefed about the progress and performance of SDH Nowshera in various healthcare indicators. He was also apprised of the financial allocations made under RKS for the hospital’s development. The review meeting focused on key healthcare services such as Maternity and Child Health Services, referral services, Ayushman Bharat, ABHA card status, Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), and ambulance services. The status of the hospital’s civil works and infrastructure development was also discussed in detail.

BMO Nowshera presented a detailed overview of the current facilities, ongoing projects, and activities planned for the year 2024-25 under RKS. The presentation highlighted the proposed infrastructure upgrades and improvements aimed at advancing the healthcare system at SDH Nowshera.

During the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned authorities to prioritize the necessities for upgrading the hospital’s basic infrastructure. He instructed the BMO to prepare a comprehensive list of department-wise requirements so that appropriate measures could be taken to address the facility upgrades. Choudhary emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines set out by the RKS to ensure efficient healthcare delivery at all levels.

The Deputy Chief Minister also urged the health department officials to work with greater enthusiasm and dedication to ensure the provision of efficient and timely healthcare services to the public. He reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare facilities, especially in remote and underserved areas of Jammu and Kashmir, and underscored the need for coordinated efforts to ensure that essential services reach the people effectively.

The meeting was attended by several key officials, including ADC Nowshera, Babu Ram Tandon, BMO, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and R&B, EO, civil society representatives, and other members of the RKS. The discussions during the meeting are expected to pave the way for continued improvements in the healthcare system at SDH Nowshera and beyond.
