APRIL 17: Shri Jitan Ram Manjhi, Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), visited the Central Tool Room and Training Centre (CTTC) in Bhubaneswar. The CTTC, an autonomous institution under the Ministry of MSME, is widely recognized as the premier Technology Centre among all MSME facilities across the country. Following this, the Minister also toured the Pharmaceutical Cluster located in the Mancheswar Industrial Estate, Bhubaneswar, which serves as a Common Facility Centre (CFC) under the Ministry’s MSE-CDP Scheme.
Accompanying the Minister were Dr. Rajneesh (IAS), Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner (MSME), Smt. Sudha Keshari (IES), Additional Development Commissioner (MSME), Shri D. Prasanth Kumar Reddy (IAS), Director of Industries, Government of Odisha, and Shri Milind Dharmrao Ramteke (IAS), Director at the Office of Development Commissioner (MSME), among other senior ministry officials and representatives from CTTC.
During the visit, Shri Manjhi received a comprehensive presentation by Shri L. Rajasekhar, General Manager of CTTC, highlighting the Centre’s capabilities, major initiatives, and achievements. The Minister, along with the delegation, undertook a tour of the facility, reviewed ongoing technical training programs, and engaged with young trainees. He expressed admiration for the innovation and skill levels demonstrated by the trainees.
CTTC has earned a stellar reputation for its contributions to critical national projects. It serves renowned organizations like ISRO, DRDO, ADA, and TATA Motors. Notably, CTTC played a key role in India’s aerospace and defence missions by manufacturing components for Chandrayaan-3, LCA-Tejas, and is currently supporting the upcoming Gaganyaan mission.
Later, Shri Manjhi visited the Pharmaceutical Cluster at Mancheswar, established with support from the Government of Odisha and spearheaded by the Utkal Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (UPMA) as the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV). The CFC aims to uplift MSME pharmaceutical units in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack by offering advanced testing, quality control, regulatory guidance, and training services.
The Minister commended UPMA’s efforts and acknowledged the impact of the cluster in improving manufacturing standards, enhancing export readiness, and reducing dependence on external labs. He praised both initiatives for empowering MSMEs and contributing significantly to regional industrial growth.
