CS-Led Committee Approves ₹300 Cr Action Plans for Major Agri Schemes in J&K

JAMMU, APRIL 18: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo chaired the State Level Steering Committee (SLSC) meeting to approve the Annual Action Plans (AAPs) for key Centrally Sponsored Schemes under the Agriculture Production Department (APD) for the financial year 2025-26.

The meeting saw participation from Principal Secretary APD Shailendra Kumar and senior officials from the Forest, Tribal Affairs, Planning, Cooperatives, and Finance Departments.

The committee approved over ₹300 crore worth of plans under flagship schemes including Krishonnati Yojana (KY), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), and the Digital Agriculture Mission (DAM). These initiatives aim to promote agricultural sustainability, mechanization, and farmer empowerment.

Under Krishonnati Yojana, the department proposed ₹20,881.62 lakh—exceeding the ₹14,923 lakh ceiling set by the Centre. Submissions included ₹2,500 lakh for Agriculture Extension (ATMA), ₹750 lakh for Seed Mission (SMSP), ₹875 lakh for the National Food Security Mission (NFSM), and ₹312 lakh for the National Mission on Edible Oils–Oilseeds (NMEO-OS). Additionally, ₹11,850.50 lakh was proposed under the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH).

The Digital Agriculture Mission has a plan of ₹4,604.62 lakh to digitize land records and introduce data-driven farming solutions. It will also support asset geo-tagging and development of a unified farmer database.

Under RKVY, ₹9,900 lakh was proposed for initiatives like Soil Health (₹280 lakh), Rain-fed Area Development (₹224 lakh), Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojna (₹615.20 lakh), Per Drop More Crop (₹1,750 lakh), Agricultural Mechanization (₹3,141 lakh), and Agroforestry (₹116.25 lakh).

The plans reflect the UT’s commitment to modernizing agriculture and improving farmer livelihoods through innovation and integrated development.
