MAY 04: In a significant step toward strengthening digital inclusion and citizen awareness, the District Administration Jammu launched a dedicated awareness van to promote the wide array of services offered through Common Service Centres (CSCs). The initiative aims to ensure that people across all corners of the district are informed about the digital and government services available to them through their nearest CSCs.

The awareness van was flagged off from the office of the Deputy Commissioner Jammu by Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya, who emphasized the critical role CSCs play in delivering citizen-centric services, especially in remote and underserved areas. Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner said, “Our objective is to reach out to every block and panchayat to inform people about the numerous services they can avail at CSCs. Accessibility, awareness, and empowerment are the key pillars of this campaign.”

The event witnessed the presence of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Sher Singh, Senior Director IT and District Informatics Officer, NIC Jammu, Sanjeev Kapoor, District Manager CSC Bhawna Mahajan, and various officials, alongside enthusiastic members of the public.

District Manager Bhawna Mahajan provided an overview of the services facilitated through CSCs, underlining their role as one-stop digital access points for various essential public services. “CSCs offer services ranging from Aadhaar enrollment and updates, PAN card applications, and banking facilities to insurance, bill payments, and issuance of government certificates like birth, death, domicile, and income certificates,” she noted. She added that these centres play a vital role in bridging the digital divide, particularly in rural communities.

The awareness van will travel across multiple blocks and panchayats in Jammu district over the coming weeks, serving as a mobile information hub. Equipped with informative materials and audio-visual aids, it will educate citizens on how to access services efficiently through their nearest CSCs and how these centres can simplify various day-to-day administrative needs.

This outreach campaign reflects the district administration’s commitment to leveraging technology for inclusive governance and ensuring that no citizen is left behind in the digital transformation journey.
