Infrastructure, public service improvements underway in Surankote, says DC

MAY 05: Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal, conducted an extensive inspection of ongoing developmental projects in Surankote, focusing on key infrastructure upgrades and public utility improvements.Accompanied by SDM Surankote Farooq Khan, Tehsildar Akbar Hussain, and engineers from concerned departments, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the progress of the 4-kilometre NABARD-funded road project from Jogi Morh to TCP via Dak Bungalow Surankote.

During the site visit, DC Vikas Kundal emphasized the importance of accelerating the widening and blacktopping work. He directed concerned officials to adhere strictly to project deadlines to ensure smooth transportation for local residents and commuters. Taking a strong stance against illegal encroachments along the road, he ordered their immediate demolition and warned of strict legal action against defaulters obstructing public infrastructure projects.

In addition to road infrastructure, the Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the status of the water tank construction on the National Highway leading to Manahasa Mohalla. He inspected the pace of work and issued directions to the Jal Shakti Department to make the water tank operational at the earliest. He stressed that the supply of clean drinking water to local communities should not face further delays and urged efficient coordination among departments to resolve any pending issues.

The visit was part of a broader initiative to monitor the quality and timeliness of developmental projects being undertaken in rural and semi-urban parts of the district.

Civil society members in Surankote welcomed the Deputy Commissioner’s hands-on approach and expressed satisfaction over the attention given to long-standing infrastructural concerns. They praised his efforts to enhance public service delivery and maintain accountability in ongoing works.
