MAY 08: Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level meeting today to assess the country’s national security preparedness and ensure robust inter-ministerial coordination amid recent developments. The meeting brought together Secretaries of key ministries and senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office to review current readiness levels and institutional continuity.
Emphasizing seamless coordination and effective communication, the Prime Minister directed all ministries to adopt a proactive and unified approach. He stressed the importance of operational continuity and resilience in essential government systems during sensitive periods.
Secretaries presented detailed plans aligned with a Whole of Government strategy, ensuring their departments are equipped to respond swiftly to emerging situations. They have been instructed to conduct thorough internal reviews and reinforce their emergency protocols, including crisis response and secure communication mechanisms.
Discussions covered a broad spectrum of critical issues, including civil defence reinforcement, countering the spread of misinformation and fake news, and protecting critical infrastructure. Ministries were also urged to maintain strong coordination with state governments and local institutions to enhance on-ground responsiveness.
The Prime Minister reiterated the need for continued vigilance, institutional synergy, and readiness to adapt to rapidly evolving scenarios. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting national interests, ensuring the safety of citizens, and upholding the operational integrity of essential services.
The meeting was attended by the Cabinet Secretary and heads of key ministries such as Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Health, Power, Information & Broadcasting, and Telecommunications.
