MAY 20: India and the United States reaffirmed their deepening defence partnership during the 8th Meeting of the India–US Joint Working Group on Aircraft Carrier Technology Cooperation (JWGACTC), held from 13 to 16 May 2025 in New Delhi and Goa. The Joint Working Group was established under the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI) to facilitate high-level collaboration on complex defence platforms and technologies.

A six-member delegation from the United States, led by Rear Admiral Casey Moton, Programme Executive Officer (Aircraft Carriers), visited India to participate in the four-day engagement. The opening session of the meeting took place on 13 May in New Delhi and was co-chaired by Rear Admiral Vishal Bishnoi, Assistant Controller Carrier Projects (ACCP) of the Indian Navy.

During the session, Rear Admiral Moton underlined the strategic value of the working group and praised its role in fostering collaboration over the last decade. Both Indian and American officials recognized the steady progress achieved through regular information exchange and technical dialogue. Discussions also covered potential areas of future cooperation in aircraft carrier design, operations, and related technologies, reflecting the evolving needs of modern naval forces.

As part of the visit, the US delegation also traveled to Goa, where they engaged with Indian Navy aviation specialists. These professional exchanges focused on aircraft carrier operations and technical systems, further solidifying operational understanding between the two navies. The interactions allowed for hands-on insight into India’s indigenous capabilities and the scope for future technological synergies.

A joint statement was issued at the conclusion of the meeting, reiterating the shared vision of both countries to enhance maritime security through robust technological cooperation. The meeting is a testament to the enduring defence partnership and aligns with broader efforts to ensure a free, open, and rules-based Indo-Pacific.

The successful conduct of this meeting highlights the mutual commitment of India and the United States to not only develop cutting-edge defence capabilities but also to support strategic interoperability in an increasingly complex maritime environment.
