District Level Training Programme on Seed Production and Niche Crops held at KVK Reasi

REASI, FEBRUARY 22: Department of Agriculture Reasi, in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), today organised a one day training programme on “Seed production and promotion of Niche Crops” under Holistic Agriculture Development Plan (HADP) here on the Krishi Vigyan Kendra campus.

 

The programme was attended by a number of officers from the department of agriculture. Chief Agriculture officer, Harbans Singh inaugurated the event.

 

While addressing the participants, he discussed HADP projects and emphasised on maintaining close coordination among stakeholder departments for successful implementation of these projects. He also discussed the modern technological interventions in seed production and stressed on Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) for more returns.

 

Sr. Scientist & amp; Head, KVK, Reasi, Dr. Banarsi Lal delivered a detailed presentation on seed production and promotion of Niche crops. He briefed the participants about the technological interventions, execution and expected outcomes from the projects. He also guided the participants on the latest technologies in seed production and marketing management. He also spoke on value addition in niche area crops for more returns.

 

District Agriculture Officer, Reasi, Rajesh Verma guided participants on quality seed production and stressed on the improved varieties of different crops for more profits.

 

Earlier Dr. Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist warmly welcomed the participants and said that 29 projects approved under the holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors can be the game changer in the overall agricultural and allied sectors development in the area.
