Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ansuya Jamwal,
Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ansuya Jamwal,

MARCH 1 : Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Ansuya Jamwal, chaired a review meeting today to ensure that all essential arrangements are in place for the upcoming holy month of Ramzan. The administration has proactively taken steps to guarantee a seamless observance of the holy month, addressing key concerns such as sanitation, power supply, market regulation, and traffic management.

To maintain cleanliness during Ramzan, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has been directed to complete necessary drain repairs and sanitation work, with special focus on areas around mosques and congregation sites. Efforts have been made to address sewage and sanitation issues, ensuring that the environment around worship venues remains hygienic and conducive for worshippers.

In terms of power supply, the Power Development Department (PDD) has been instructed to ensure uninterrupted electricity, particularly during Seheri (pre-dawn meal) and Iftar (meal after sunset). Preventive measures have been implemented to minimize power outages, and necessary repairs to loose and hanging wires have been carried out to prevent any disruptions during the fasting period.

Traffic management arrangements have also been put in place to prevent congestion around prayer venues and busy market areas. Coordination between various departments has been ensured to streamline traffic flow, making it easier for people to reach mosques and other places of worship without facing significant delays.

Market regulation is another area that has been strengthened to ensure fair pricing and the sale of safe products. Regular inspections are being conducted to monitor market activities, prevent overpricing, and safeguard consumers from purchasing adulterated food items. The Legal Metrology Department has been directed to take strict action against violators to protect the interests of the public.

To ensure proper oversight of these preparations, Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) from Jammu North and Jammu South, Athar Amin and Rafiq Ahmad, respectively, have been tasked with personally visiting mosques in their respective areas to assess the on-ground arrangements. This will help ensure that all necessary measures are being followed to create a safe and organized environment for worship.

For addressing public grievances, the JMC helpline (18001807207) will remain active during working hours to provide prompt assistance and resolve any civic issues that may arise during Ramzan.

In her concluding remarks, the ADC stressed the importance of interdepartmental coordination to ensure the smooth execution of all arrangements. The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner General, Vikas Dhar Bagati, SP Headquarters, Irshad Hussain Rather, and other district officers and representatives from religious organizations.
