MARCH 30: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today paid floral tributes to Head Constable Jagbir Singh, who made the supreme sacrifice during a two-day long encounter in Kathua. Leading a wreath-laying ceremony at the Police Headquarters in Gulshan Ground, the Chief Minister honored the bravery and commitment of the fallen officer, who was serving as the in-charge of the Safiyan police post.

During the ceremony, CM Omar Abdullah expressed his deep respect for Head Constable Jagbir Singh’s dedication and sacrifice. Describing his actions as the highest form of duty, the Chief Minister said, “His courage and commitment will always be remembered. May his soul rest in peace.” The emotional ceremony served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by police personnel in the line of duty, putting their lives on the line to protect and serve the public.

Following the wreath-laying ceremony, the Chief Minister visited the families of the four slain policemen, including Balvinder Singh, Tariq Ahmad, Jaswant Singh, and Jagbir Singh. He personally conveyed his condolences to the grieving families, offering his support during their time of sorrow. In a message shared on social media, CM Omar Abdullah expressed his heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, saying, “Visited the families of our bravehearts—Balvinder Singh, Tariq Ahmad, Jaswant Singh, and Jagbir Singh—who laid down their lives in the line of duty during the Kathua encounter. Their sacrifice is etched in our hearts forever. We stand with their families in this hour of grief.”

The tragic encounter, which took place in Kathua, resulted in the loss of these brave officers’ lives, leaving behind families and a community in mourning. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of honoring the sacrifices made by the police force, recognizing their tireless efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region. He reassured the families that the government would continue to support them, offering both emotional and financial assistance in their difficult time.
