KATHUA, MARCH 31: Deputy Commissioner, Rahul Pandey, chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee to discuss cases related to the Forest Rights Act (FRA) 2006.
The DC took a comprehensive review of the status of FRA applications in which the concerned officers of Forest, Revenue and Rural Development Department apprised the chair about the current disposal scenario of applications under scrutiny by concerned committees.
Upon review, the DC stressed adopting a coordinated approach for effective implementation at the grass-root level. A total of five cases were deliberated upon during the meeting. After thorough deliberations, four cases were cleared by DLC.
The DC directed Additional Deputy Commissioners and Sub-Divisional Magistrates to expedite the disposal of cases under FRA besides ensuring fulfilment of codal formalities to rule out any pendency later on. He called upon all stakeholders to ensure that all genuine eligible applicants who rely on forests for their livelihood can get their rights as provisioned in the Forest Rights Act 2006.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Billawar; Additional Deputy Commissioner Basohli; Sub-Divisional Magistrates; Assistant Commissioner Revenue; Divisional Forest Officer Basohli; Divisional Forest Officer Billawar and Divisional Forest Officer Kathua.
