APRIL 1: The festival of Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with great religious fervor, enthusiasm, and in a peaceful atmosphere across district Kishtwar today. The streets and local mosques were filled with devotees who gathered to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of people thronged local mosques, where they offered the Namaz-e-Eid, praying for peace, prosperity, and the continued development of Kishtwar district and the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.
The celebrations were marked by a strong sense of community and devotion. People of all ages participated in the prayers, expressing gratitude and seeking blessings for a better future. The prayers were also an occasion to pray for the well-being of the district, the UT, and for global peace and harmony. As is customary, the faithful embraced one another, exchanged greetings, and wished each other a happy and prosperous Eid.
In preparation for the large gathering, the district and police administrations made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the celebrations, particularly at Chowgan Ground, the main venue for the Eid festivities. The event witnessed careful planning by the authorities to guarantee both the safety and comfort of attendees.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Javed Iqbal, were present throughout the day, overseeing the security and other arrangements. They monitored the event to ensure it proceeded peacefully, with special attention paid to crowd control, parking, and the overall coordination of law enforcement efforts. Their presence underscored the importance of maintaining order while allowing the community to fully participate in the celebrations.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pawan Kotwal and Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Pawan Kumar, along with other officers from both the police and civil administration, were actively involved in the festivities. They exchanged heartfelt Eid greetings with the Muslim community, joining in the celebrations and conveying their best wishes. The officials also took the opportunity to pray for the peace, tranquility, integrity, and communal harmony of both the district and the larger Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
