MAY 02: The Reasi district administration, led by Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik, launched a weeklong campaign for the cleaning and maintenance of water recharge structures and storage tanks across the district. The initiative, running from May 1 to May 7 under the “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2025,” carries the theme “Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari – Jan Jagrukta ki Ore.”
The campaign involves coordinated, block-wise cleanliness activities executed by Block Development Officers (BDOs) as per a district action plan. Focus areas include the restoration and upkeep of traditional water bodies, water tanks, and recharge structures.
While launching the campaign, DC Malik inspected various sites developed under the Amrit Sarovar initiative and emphasized the critical role of community involvement in water conservation. She directed all BDOs to ensure that all structures are functional, maintained, and assessed for future improvements.
Departments such as Rural Development, Jal Shakti, IWMP, and Forest, along with volunteers, are actively participating in the drive. A final review of the campaign’s outcomes will take place on May 8.
The DC reiterated the administration’s commitment to promoting responsible water use and making water preservation a collective civic duty.
She was accompanied during the field visits by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, CPO Narinder Kumar, and other officials.
