May 3: Deputy Commissioner Nidhi Malik chaired a review meeting to assess the performance of the Health Department Reasi, focusing on key areas including maternal and neonatal healthcare, immunisation, and the ongoing 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Kohli briefed the DC on various health indicators, including family planning initiatives, immunisation status, and the current progress under TB control efforts. Emphasizing maternal and newborn health, the Deputy Commissioner called for strict monitoring of institutional versus home deliveries, urging health officials to promote safer, facility-based childbirth practices.

Highlighting the risks associated with home births, she directed the CMO to compile and submit detailed data on both institutional deliveries and home births. “No woman should be forced to deliver in unsafe conditions due to lack of access,” she stressed, particularly focusing on remote and hilly blocks like Mahore, Reasi, and Pouni.

Under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), the DC directed intensified efforts for early detection of childhood diseases and timely intervention. The district reported encouraging figures: 91% ANC registration in the first trimester, 91% institutional deliveries, BCG vaccination at 108%, and significant progress in PPIUCD insertion during 2024–25.

The DC ordered block-wise monthly reviews of all ongoing programmes and instructed that compiled health data be regularly submitted to her office for better planning and accountability. She also reviewed progress under the 100-Day TB Elimination Campaign, urging intensified awareness efforts and community outreach.

The review highlighted Reasi’s positive trajectory in several health indicators, while emphasizing targeted action for under-served regions.
