Director Agriculture Kashmir visits Gangbugh, Nunar farms

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 01: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited Seed Multiplication Farm (SMF) Gangbugh Srinagar, SMF Nunar Ganderbal and took first hand appraisal of various agriculture activities and interventions by the department.

 

Speaking on the occasion, the Director highlighted the importance of ensuring round the year availability of vegetable seedlings to the farmers of Kashmir.

 

Amid prevailing agro-economic scenarios, Iqbal marked the importance of diversification, integrated cultivation, and precision farming. He said the strengthening of the vegetable sector in the region would play a key role in achieving economic security for the farming community. ‘Our Agro-climatic conditions are one of the most suitable for the cultivation of vegetables in the country and to channelize this potential a collaborative approach between the farming community and the department is needed’ he said.

 

Director asked the concerned officers of the vegetable farms to organize awareness programmes for the farmers so that they could get first hand information with respect to different agriculture interventions by the department.

 

Director was accompanied by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Mohammad Syeed Peer, Joint Director Apiculture and Mushroom Tabassum Naz.
