GDC Ramgarh conducts plantation drive under Mission LiFE

SAMBA, MAY 25: Government Degree College Ramgarh today conducted a tree sapling plantation drive in Baba Sidh Goria temple under ‘Mission LiFE’ as a part of series of activities to be organized by Eco Club of the college to mark the celebrations of World Environment Day.

 

The drive was conducted under able guidance and coordination of Prof. (Dr.) Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College. The event was organized by ECO Club under the aegis of G20 cell to commemorate India’s Presidency in G20 in 2023 and MY COLLEGE MY PRIDE.

 

The tree plantation drive was conducted with an aim to control global warming, make environment pollution free and spread awareness on the importance of keeping a clean environment. A large number of students as well as all the faculty members of the college participated in the event. As a part of the initiative, saplings were planted by the Principal, Faculty members and students of the college as well.

 

On the occasion, Dr. Geetanjali Andotra, Principal of the College, said that the tree plantation drives combat many environmental issues like deforestation, erosion of soil, desertification in semi-arid areas, global warming and hence enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment. Tree Plantation does not only make the surrounding beautiful but also provides various other benefits and helps in beating the heat.

 

At the outset, Dr. Sandeep Kumar motivated the students to plant more and more tree saplings for environment conservation and sustainability. Further he encouraged the students to take part in such plantation drives.

 

Prof. Risha Kumari, Convener, Eco Club said that Many species of wildlife depend on trees for their habitat. Trees provide food, protection, and homes for many birds and mammals.

 

The event was organized by Dr. Sandeep Kumar, Convener G20 Cell and Prof. Risha Kumari, Convener Eco Club. The faculty members who were present include Dr. Aditi Khajuria, Dr. Shamsher Lal, Dr Rahul Kundal, Dr. Varinder Kaur, Sanjeev Kumar, Ashish Kumar

and Arpana.
