MAY 16: Minister Javed Rana concluded his three-day visit to the border areas of Balakote in Poonch district with a strong message of solidarity and assurance for residents living along the Line of Control (LoC). Commending the unmatched courage and resilience displayed by the border villagers in the face of frequent cross-border shelling and tension, he emphasized that these citizens are the “unsung heroes of our nation.”

Interacting with several families directly affected by recent shelling incidents, Minister Rana listened to their grievances and firsthand accounts of trauma and loss. He stressed the urgent need for comprehensive relief measures, including adequate compensation for damaged property and immediate financial assistance to bereaved or injured families.

“These residents brave unimaginable hardships to live on the frontlines of national security. Their courage is unparalleled, and they deserve more than just appreciation—they need timely and tangible support from the administration,” the minister said during a public interaction.

Highlighting the emotional and psychological toll that continuous shelling and displacement take on the people, especially children and the elderly, Mr. Rana called for the deployment of psychological counseling teams in the region. He also urged the government to formulate a long-term support strategy for border dwellers, including enhanced shelter facilities, trauma care units, and secure bunkers in vulnerable areas.

Minister Rana held meetings with local officials, security personnel, and community representatives to review the status of ongoing development works and relief efforts in the border belt. He directed the administration to expedite the disbursal of compensation and ensure transparency in beneficiary identification.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of those living along the LoC, he assured villagers that their safety, well-being, and dignity remain top priorities. “Our border residents are not just victims—they are the shield of the nation. The government stands firmly with them in every moment of adversity,” he declared.

His visit brought a sense of reassurance and renewed hope among the residents, many of whom expressed gratitude for the minister’s on-ground presence and compassionate outreach.
