MARCH 30: Dr. Sayed Abid Rasheed, Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, inaugurated a special medical camp at the Ramakrishna Mission Medical Centre in Udaywala, Jammu. The camp, aimed at providing quality healthcare to the masses, saw the active participation of renowned doctors and specialists from various fields.
The medical camp was supported by eminent neurologist Dr. Sushil Razdan and renowned physician Dr. K.K. Pandita, along with other distinguished specialists including Dr. Rajni Razdan. The medical professionals rendered their expertise through consultations in neurology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, dentistry, ENT, ophthalmology, and many other fields.
Dr. Abid Rasheed lauded the Ramakrishna Mission for its unwavering dedication to public service, particularly in offering accessible healthcare to the community. He expressed his gratitude to the volunteer doctors for generously offering their services to the public. In his address, Dr. Rasheed emphasized the importance of such initiatives in improving healthcare outreach and supporting the well-being of local communities.
As part of the event, Dr. Rasheed dedicated a new eye testing machine, an Auto Refractometer, to the medical centre. He also took a tour of the facility, reviewing the services offered at the medical centre. His visit included an inspection of the well-equipped medical infrastructure, ensuring that the facility continues to meet the needs of the people.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Rasheed visited the Ramakrishna Mission complex, which includes an auditorium and a library dedicated to youth development. During his visit, he interacted with students preparing for various entrance examinations. He encouraged them to pursue their career aspirations with focus and dedication while staying grounded in their cultural heritage. Dr. Rasheed recommended that students read the works of Swami Vivekananda, particularly his landmark speech at the World Parliament of Religions, to inspire and guide their intellectual journey.
Swami Yajnadharananda, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission in Jammu, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna Dev, Maa Sarada, and Swami Vivekananda, emphasizing that serving humanity is a form of divine worship. He also announced that similar medical camps will be organised monthly, aiming to benefit more people in the region.
The health camp offered a range of free services, including consultations with specialists across various fields, blood sugar and blood pressure checks, and full body check-ups covering 66 health parameters. The camp also provided a nominal fee service for more comprehensive tests, including CBC, liver and kidney function tests, and thyroid function tests.
