MAY 02:
As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, a series of drug awareness programmes were conducted across Government Higher Secondary Schools in Jammu district to sensitize students and communities about the dangers of substance abuse and to encourage a drug-free lifestyle.
One of the key events was held at Government Higher Secondary School, Channi Himmat, where Member Legislative Assembly Choudhary Vikram Randhawa attended as Chief Guest. He emphasized the need to raise awareness among youth to prevent drug addiction and highlighted the role of community involvement in tackling this growing menace.
Health professionals from the Department of Health Services, in collaboration with the Police and Social Welfare Departments, conducted interactive sessions on the physical, psychological, and social consequences of drug use. Their insights provided students with a comprehensive understanding of how drug abuse can derail lives and communities.
Simultaneous events at GHSS Bishnah, Kathar, Salehar, and PM Shri GHSS Sohal witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, School Management and Development Committees (SMDC), parents, and local residents. Activities such as Nukkad Nataks (street plays), Dogri poetry recitations, motivational talks, and lectures were organized to engage young minds and spread awareness through creative expression.
Each session concluded with an anti-drug pledge, where participants committed to contributing toward a drug-free society. The district-wide campaign reflects a collective resolve to educate, empower, and protect the younger generation from the threats of substance abuse.
