MAY 04: As part of its commitment to enhancing transparency, efficiency, and public service delivery through digital transformation, the district administration of Jammu is taking decisive steps to scale up the implementation of the e-Office system. In a key meeting held today, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Jammu, Sher Singh, chaired a session with officials from various departments to review the status and fast-track the rollout of the e-Office platform at both Tehsil and Block-level offices.
The meeting focused on ensuring that all government departments operating within the district become fully integrated into the e-Office ecosystem. This digital initiative aims to replace manual file handling and traditional paper-based systems with an end-to-end digital solution, thereby promoting greater accountability and smoother inter-departmental functioning.
ADDC Sher Singh stressed the importance of the initiative, describing the e-Office rollout not merely as a technical upgrade but as a fundamental shift in governance. “This is a transformative reform that will ensure faster processing of government work, enhance interdepartmental communication, and ultimately improve service delivery to the public,” he remarked. He further directed all departmental heads to nominate dedicated Nodal Officers at the earliest. These officers will serve as the primary contact points for coordinating with the District Informatics Centre and ensuring smooth execution of the project within their respective departments.
District Informatics Officer and Senior Director IT, Jammu, Mr. Sanjeev Kapoor, delivered a detailed orientation during the meeting. He outlined the core functionalities of the e-Office platform, including file tracking, digital documentation, and workflow management. Kapoor highlighted that the nominated Nodal Officers will undergo comprehensive training sessions designed to familiarize them with the system’s tools and applications. These officers will subsequently lead internal training programs within their departments, enabling a cascading model of skill development and system adoption.
The meeting concluded with clear instructions from the ADDC for all departments to expedite the nomination of Nodal Officers and coordinate proactively with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) for scheduling training and resolving technical queries.
The implementation of e-Office across all administrative levels marks a significant leap forward in Jammu’s journey toward efficient and transparent e-governance.
