May 3: Mission Director, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) J&K, Khurshid Ahmad Shah conducted a comprehensive review of water supply schemes in Rajouri district, emphasizing timely execution and financial discipline to avoid cost escalation.
The review meeting was attended by Chief Engineer, Jal Shakti (PHE) Jammu; Superintending Engineer, Hydraulic Circle Rajouri; Executive Engineers; AEEs; JEs; and officials from the Mechanical wing. Officials presented the status of various projects via a detailed presentation.
It was highlighted that out of 87,188 rural households in the district, 55,454 have been connected with Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) under the mission. The district is executing 183 civil schemes, encompassing 351 individual works, including 10 dug wells, 108 bore wells, 43 Rapid Sand Filtration Plants (RSFPs), 2 overhead tanks, 183 pipe networks, and 5 Slow Sand Filtration Plants (SSFPs). So far, 43 schemes with 159 works have been completed.
Commending the successful drilling of 107 bore wells, the Mission Director urged immediate commissioning of RSFPs to ensure the delivery of clean and safe drinking water. He emphasized the need for robust financial oversight to prevent unnecessary cost increases and ensure value for public funds.
The department assured the MD that most RSFPs are in their final stages and will be operational soon, along with other ongoing components.
Additionally, updates on 145 mechanical schemes were shared, of which machinery for 92 schemes has been procured, and 50 schemes have been completed, further contributing to the district’s water infrastructure development under JJM.
