JUNE 04: In a significant step toward digitization and citizen-centric governance, Financial Commissioner Revenue, Shaleen Kabra, inaugurated new online services for the Central Record Rooms located in Jammu and Srinagar. These services are now fully integrated with the Jammu & Kashmir Revenue Portal, marking a major milestone in delivering seamless public services.
With the launch of this initiative, citizens across Jammu and Kashmir can now easily access vital land and revenue documents through the official portal http://jkrevenue.nic.in. This development eliminates the need for physical visits to government offices, thereby ensuring quicker, transparent, and hassle-free access to essential records.
The move is part of a broader effort by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to strengthen e-governance, reduce bureaucratic red tape, and empower citizens through digital services. The integration of Central Record Rooms with the online portal reflects a proactive approach toward modernizing public service delivery.
During the launch event, Shaleen Kabra emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and efficient service. He noted that providing digital access to historical and updated land records will not only benefit the common citizen but also streamline administrative procedures across departments.
The initiative will also play a crucial role in enhancing accountability within the revenue system. By making these records available online, the administration is aiming to prevent tampering, ensure data accuracy, and reduce corruption. Furthermore, it supports the vision of a digitally empowered Jammu & Kashmir where public services are accessible, timely, and citizen-friendly.
This latest development builds upon earlier reforms in the Revenue Department, such as digitization of land records, online mutation services, and e-filing of applications. The Central Record Rooms house critical land and revenue documents dating back decades — now, with digitization, these documents can be retrieved with just a few clicks.
As the J&K administration continues to embrace digital transformation, this initiative marks another concrete step toward achieving the goals of Digital India and “Minimum Government, Maximum Governance.”
