‘Kala Darpan 2025’ Showcases Classical Music and Dance in Jammu

May 3: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) in collaboration with Bhavishya Academy and the Institute of Classical Dance organized the classical cultural evening ‘Kala Darpan 2025’ at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu.

Themed around Lord Shiva (SWAYAMBHU), the event celebrated India’s classical heritage through captivating music and dance performances. The programme aimed to revive and promote traditional art forms among the youth and the community at large.

MLA Jammu East, Yudhvir Sethi, graced the event as Chief Guest, while Commissioner Secretary, Forest, Ecology and Environment, Sheetal Nanda attended as the Guest of Honour. Also present were Harvinder Kour, Secretary JKAACL, senior officials, students, and a large number of classical art enthusiasts.

In her address, Sheetal Nanda applauded the organisers and participants, praising their dedication to preserving the cultural ethos of India. She emphasized the importance of such cultural showcases in nurturing young talent and keeping traditional art forms alive.

The event featured an engaging line-up of Kathak performances by young dancers, harmonized with classical music, offering a fresh interpretation of Indian classical traditions. The well-rehearsed presentations left the audience captivated and reinforced the potential of youth in keeping India’s classical legacy vibrant.

JKAACL reiterated its commitment to supporting cultural initiatives and providing platforms for emerging artists across Jammu and Kashmir. The event concluded with enthusiastic applause from the audience and appreciation for the organisers’ efforts in making Kala Darpan 2025 a memorable celebration of classical art.
