KVIB Kathua organises awareness camp on PMEGP, JKREGP

KATHUA, MARCH 16: Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB)-Kathua today organized one day awareness camp on Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu & Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) at Chack Sardar Desa Singh, Kathua.

 

Among others, Chairman BDC Kathua Raghubir Singh, Chief Advisor J&K Mahila Corporation Kailash Verma, Sarpanch Chack Desa Singh Sunita Devi, other members of Panchayat, Ex Sarpanch Dalip Singh along with LDM Kathua, Regional Manager Grameen Bank, Chief Manager SBI RCC Kathua and Naresh Kumar from Cluster Office J&K Bank Kathua attended the programme.

 

District Officer KVIB Kathua Dr. Sandeep Kotwal, while briefing the gathering regarding benefits of various Employment Schemes being implemented by the Board, stressed upon the unemployed youth to come forward and avail the opportunities opened to them under these Schemes. He proposed that they should be Job providers rather than Job seekers by establishing their own micro-industrial units so as to contribute in building a prosperous Society.

 

Chairman BDC Kathua while addressing the gathering exhorted for the need of synchronized efforts by KVIB and Banks to ensure that benefits of the self employment Schemes implemented by KVI Board are transferred to the targeted population unhindered. He appreciated the role of KVIB in providing employment opportunities to thousands of unemployed aspirants of the District. He appealed to the public to be aware of the benefits of Schemes like PMEGP & JKREGP and apprise the young unemployed youth about them.

 

Sarpanch Chack, Sardar Desa Singh Sunita Devi informed the gathering that many of the youth of her Panchayat have already availed benefits under the Schemes of KVIB and further appealed the women folk and youth to not miss golden opportunities available under these Schemes.

 

Speaking on Occasion LDM Kathua, Regional Manager Grameen Bank Chief Manager SBI RCC and other Senior Officers from the Banking fraternity said that banks are putting their best efforts to sanction maximum number of cases sponsored under PMEGP & JKREGP Schemes and assured that time bound implementation of the Schemes shall be taken care of. However, it was also added that the twin Schemes have huge potential to engage large number of youth for getting sustainable source of income.
