JUNE 11: In a significant step towards ensuring seamless arrangements for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha visited Sonamarg today. During his visit, he held extensive interactions with representatives from various groups, including the Sonamarg Market Association, Hoteliers, Ponywalas, and other service providers directly involved in facilitating the annual pilgrimage.
The delegations brought to the Lieutenant Governor’s attention several important issues that require attention for the smooth and efficient management of this year’s Yatra. Their concerns ranged from infrastructure improvements, better facilities for pilgrims, welfare measures for service providers, traffic and crowd management, to safety and emergency preparedness during the pilgrimage period.
Lieutenant Governor Sinha patiently heard the concerns and assured the stakeholders of the administration’s full support. He emphasized that the Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine Board, in coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir administration, remains fully committed to addressing the issues raised and ensuring the welfare of all stakeholders involved in this sacred event.
Reiterating the significance of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra for the region’s religious, cultural, and economic landscape, the Lieutenant Governor stated that the administration is taking every possible step to make this year’s pilgrimage safe, smooth, and well-organized. He added that the collaborative efforts of local communities, service providers, and government departments are crucial for the successful conduct of the yatra.
The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted that special attention is being given to infrastructure development, medical facilities, sanitation, accommodation, security arrangements, and disaster management preparedness to cater to the lakhs of pilgrims expected to visit the holy shrine.
The meeting reflected the government’s inclusive approach, engaging directly with ground-level stakeholders to ensure that their voices are heard and their needs addressed. The proactive engagement underlines the administration’s dedication to making the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra a memorable and spiritually fulfilling experience for every devotee.
