May 22: In a compassionate outreach to residents affected by the recent unprovoked shelling by Pakistan, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Rajouri, reaffirming the government’s commitment to the safety and well-being of border communities in Jammu and Kashmir. His visit comes in the aftermath of a tragic incident of cross-border firing that led to the loss of innocent lives, including the brave JKAS officer, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa.

The Lieutenant Governor met with the grieving families in the affected villages along the Line of Control (LoC), offering heartfelt condolences and promising all possible support from the Union Territory administration. He assured the residents that the government is not only aware of their pain but is taking urgent steps to enhance security and provide timely relief.

“Our border residents continue to show remarkable courage despite living under constant threat. The administration stands firmly with every family that has suffered due to this inhumane act of violence,” LG Sinha stated during the interaction.

The visit highlighted both the immediate and long-term measures the administration is planning. These include swift disbursal of compensation, upgraded safety infrastructure, and coordinated efforts between civil and security agencies to ensure better preparedness against future hostilities. The LG also held a review meeting with senior officials to assess the situation and accelerate relief operations in the shelling-hit areas.

One of the focal points of the visit was paying tribute to Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, the JKAS officer who lost his life in the shelling. LG Sinha honored his service and sacrifice, describing him as a dedicated officer whose commitment to public service will always be remembered.

The shelling by Pakistan has once again exposed the fragile peace along the LoC, putting civilian lives at risk. However, the administration’s proactive response and the LG’s on-ground engagement send a clear message: the people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially those in border areas, will not be left to face these challenges alone.

With continued support and strategic planning, the Union Territory aims to fortify border regions while standing in solidarity with those most affected by external aggression.
