Poshan Abhiyaan: A Cornerstone in India’s Battle Against Malnutrition, Says Minister Harsh Malhotra
Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road, Transport & Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra, emphasized the transformative role of Poshan Abhiyaan in India’s mission to eliminate malnutrition and build a healthier future. Speaking at a community event held at Aggarwal Dharamshala Bhawan in Shakarpur, Delhi, the Minister distributed 300 nutrition kits to women and children as part of the nationwide campaign.
The event was also attended by MLA from Lakshmi Nagar, Shri Abhay Verma, and local civic leaders, including Smt Alka Raghav, Smt Yashpal Kaintura, and Shri Ram Kishore Sharma. The gathering showcased the government’s ground-level action in ensuring nutritional support to vulnerable segments of society.
Highlighting the initiative’s objectives, Shri Malhotra stated that Poshan Abhiyaan is a flagship effort by the Modi Government to address malnutrition through a focused, mission-mode approach. The scheme targets critical demographics—infants, adolescent girls, pregnant women, and lactating mothers—fostering overall health, immunity, and community well-being.
The Minister praised the technological integration in the form of the Poshan Tracker App, which empowers Anganwadi workers to efficiently monitor health indicators such as growth charts, meal provision, and early education. Beneficiaries can now also self-register online, enhancing accessibility and real-time data collection.
Shri Malhotra stressed the importance of early childhood nutrition, which is crucial for cognitive and physical development. He pointed out that regular access to a nutrient-rich diet can significantly reduce cases of stunting and anaemia, promoting long-term health outcomes and boosting the nation’s productivity.
Urging collective action, the Minister concluded with a strong call for commitment: “Let’s work together to ensure that every Indian child and mother has access to nutritious food. Better nutrition today will lead to a stronger and more developed India tomorrow.”
Poshan Abhiyaan malnutrition reduction efforts are not just healthcare reforms—they are a cornerstone of India’s long-term sustainable development and a stepping stone toward a Viksit Bharat.
