JUNE 13: In a significant outreach effort, Tribal Affairs Minister Javed Ranaa met with a delegation representing the Gujjar-Bakerwal community from the Jammu, Samba, and Kathua districts. The meeting, held to directly hear the concerns and aspirations of the community, reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to addressing the needs of tribal populations and promoting inclusive development across the Union Territory.
During the interaction, members of the Gujjar-Bakerwal delegation raised a range of issues concerning their welfare, including access to education, healthcare, livelihood opportunities, and protection of their traditional rights. They also highlighted concerns regarding land rights, socio-economic upliftment, and effective implementation of government schemes aimed at tribal welfare.
Listening attentively to the delegation, Minister Javed Ranaa assured them of the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s full support in addressing their legitimate concerns. He emphasized that the administration is deeply committed to ensuring that all grievances of the tribal communities are resolved promptly and effectively.
“The welfare of our tribal brothers and sisters is a top priority for the government. Every effort is being made to protect their rights, enhance their living standards, and integrate them into the mainstream development narrative, while preserving their unique cultural identity,” the Minister said.
Minister Ranaa reiterated that the government’s approach is firmly rooted in citizen-centric governance, where grievances are not only heard but actively addressed through coordinated administrative action. He directed the concerned departments to expedite pending matters, ensure proper implementation of welfare schemes, and take proactive steps to remove any bureaucratic hurdles faced by the community.
Stressing the importance of social harmony and inclusive growth, the Tribal Affairs Minister highlighted that empowering tribal communities like Gujjar-Bakerwals contributes significantly to the overall socio-economic development of the Union Territory.
