MARCH 22: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA), Transport, Youth Services, and Sports, Satish Sharma, today held two public outreach camps at the far-flung areas of Selyote and Rah-Selyote Panchayats in Chamb Constituency. The camps aimed to assess the issues and concerns of local residents while inaugurating several development projects.
During the outreach camps, Satish Sharma launched important infrastructure projects, including the blacktopping, drainage work, and construction of a protection wall on an 800-meter long link road to Hardumalwara. This development work, being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD), comes with an estimated cost of Rs 46 lakh, promising to improve connectivity and provide better infrastructure to the remote areas.
Additionally, the Minister inaugurated an augmented 100 KV transformer, addressing the area’s power supply concerns and enhancing the local electricity infrastructure.
The outreach camps saw significant participation from people across various sections of society. Numerous issues were raised by the locals, ranging from infrastructure development and basic amenities to daily challenges faced by the community. Some of the major concerns discussed included road connectivity, water supply, frequent power outages, unscheduled ration card updates, shortage of medical and educational staff, and other essential development matters.
Satish Sharma took time to listen patiently to all the concerns raised by the attendees and assured them of swift action and resolution. He emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to addressing these pressing issues and working toward the betterment of the region.
The Minister also highlighted key government initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. These included efforts to enhance road connectivity, strengthen the healthcare system, improve educational opportunities, and several welfare schemes such as 200 free units of electricity and 10kg of ration to Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) beneficiaries. He also mentioned the free bus rides for women and increased pensions as part of the government’s outreach efforts.
“Under the leadership of our Chief Minister, the government is determined to deliver governance directly to the people’s doorsteps,” said Satish Sharma. He further directed officials to regularly visit rural areas to ensure effective implementation of government schemes and promptly resolve genuine concerns.
As part of his commitment to youth development, Satish Sharma distributed sports kits, including footballs, volleyballs, badminton rackets, tennis balls, and cricket kits, to local children, encouraging them to pursue sports and stay active.
