MAY 23: In a significant outreach initiative aimed at addressing public grievances and improving service delivery, Minister Satish Sharma held a series of meetings with various delegations in the region. Representatives from Basohli, NHM COVID Warriors, the Radio Taxi Union, RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan) teachers, and MLA Hazratbal met with the Minister to present concerns spanning transport, employment, healthcare, and civic infrastructure.
The delegations brought forth a range of pressing issues. The Basohli delegation emphasized the need for improved road connectivity, infrastructure development, and tourism promotion in the historically rich region. They sought special initiatives to harness the town’s cultural and heritage potential for economic growth.
The NHM COVID Warriors, who served on the front lines during the pandemic, expressed concerns about pending honorariums, regularization of services, and long-term job security. Minister Sharma acknowledged their invaluable contribution and assured the delegation that their demands would be taken seriously and addressed in consultation with the health department.
The Radio Taxi Union raised concerns over rising fuel prices, licensing delays, and lack of parking infrastructure in urban areas. The Minister promised to work with the transport department to ensure better regulation and facilities for the union, ensuring their economic stability and service efficiency.
RMSA teachers, under contract across various government schools, urged for regularization of their employment and equitable salary structures. Sharma noted the vital role teachers play in shaping the youth and confirmed that the education department is already reviewing policy frameworks to address such long-standing issues.
In his meeting with MLA Hazratbal, matters related to local civic issues, sanitation, water supply, and urban development in the constituency were discussed. Minister Sharma committed to pushing for timely action through the relevant urban local bodies and departments.
In concluding remarks, Satish Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment to responsive and inclusive governance, stating that addressing public concerns in a time-bound manner is a top priority. He emphasized that such regular engagements with community representatives are essential for building trust and shaping policies that reflect ground realities.
These meetings reflect the administration’s proactive stance and ongoing efforts to bridge the gap between governance and grassroots voices across Jammu and Kashmir.
