MAY 07: Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, paid a visit to the Government Medical College (GMC), Rajouri to check on the condition of passengers injured in the recent tragic bus accident at Ghani, located in the Mendhar region of Poonch district.
During the hospital visit, the Minister interacted with the injured individuals and assured them of the government’s full support for their medical treatment and recovery. He instructed the Medical Superintendent and the hospital staff to extend all necessary care and attention to the victims and to ensure that no compromise is made in their treatment.
Accompanying the Minister were Additional District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa, and several other senior district and departmental officers.
Rana expressed grave concern over the increasing number of road accidents in the hilly Pir Panjal region, stressing the urgent need for comprehensive road safety reforms. He underlined several key measures, including the improvement of road infrastructure in vulnerable areas, better driver training programs, stricter vehicle inspections, and tighter enforcement of traffic regulations.
The Minister also emphasized the need for targeted awareness campaigns to educate the public on road safety and urged authorities to conduct detailed analyses of previous accidents to identify recurring risk factors and address them proactively.
Later in the day, public delegations met the Minister at Dak Bungalow, Rajouri, to share their concerns and issues related to various civic, infrastructure, and welfare matters. Javed Rana gave a patient hearing to the grievances raised by the people and issued immediate directions to the concerned officers to resolve genuine issues in a time-bound manner.
The visit by Minister Rana not only highlighted the government’s sensitivity towards accident victims but also reinforced the administration’s commitment to improving public safety and addressing grassroots-level concerns in the region.
