June 11: In a high-stakes security development, the elite National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, popularly known as the ‘Black Cats’, successfully intercepted and neutralized explosive-laden drones targeting Jammu Airport just days after the strategic Operation Sindoor heightened regional alert levels. The incident underscores the increasing use of drone warfare by anti-national elements and the vital role India’s counter-terror units play in safeguarding high-security zones.

Sources confirm that multiple drones carrying suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were detected within proximity of the airport perimeter. Acting swiftly, NSG units deployed at the location executed precision electronic counter-drone measures, followed by physical interception, ensuring no harm was caused to personnel, infrastructure, or civilians.

This latest interception comes in the wake of escalating drone threats along the western front, especially in sensitive Union Territories like Jammu and Kashmir. Intelligence agencies have been on high alert since the conclusion of Operation Sindoor, which dismantled a network allegedly linked to cross-border smuggling and terror plots.

Security experts have praised the NSG’s readiness and tactical response, calling it a “textbook neutralization” of an emerging threat that could have had devastating consequences. Authorities are now combing the area for further forensic evidence to trace the origin of the drones and the nature of the payload. Preliminary findings suggest a pattern consistent with recent attempts to destabilize security infrastructure via low-cost, high-risk aerial incursions.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has taken cognizance of the event, and additional measures are being introduced to fortify critical installations, including airports, military depots, and communication hubs, with anti-drone technology and surveillance.
