APRIL 8: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today shared his insights on the significant impact of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY) in an exclusive interview with the Economic Times. In the interview, PM Modi elaborated on the transformative role that the scheme has played in fostering economic empowerment and dignity for millions of individuals, especially small business owners and entrepreneurs across India.

MUDRA Yojana, launched by Prime Minister Modi in April 2015, has become one of the most crucial initiatives to empower the youth, women, and entrepreneurs by providing them with access to affordable and easy credit. Through this scheme, the government has been able to offer financial assistance to those who have limited access to traditional banking services. The objective has been to bridge the credit gap for micro and small enterprises (MSEs), thereby enabling them to grow and contribute significantly to India’s economic development.

In his conversation with Economic Times, PM Modi discussed the wide-reaching benefits of the scheme, noting that it has provided a platform for millions of people to set up and expand their businesses. He emphasized the significant shift in the financial landscape, where individuals who once lacked the necessary resources to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams are now able to access funding that fuels their ambitions.

The Prime Minister also expressed his pride in the fact that MUDRA Yojana has facilitated financial inclusion on a massive scale. The scheme has supported a diverse range of entrepreneurs, from small traders and farmers to women running small businesses and individuals in rural areas. He stated that the MUDRA Yojana has enabled these entrepreneurs to create jobs, improve their livelihoods, and, in many cases, expand their businesses significantly.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi further emphasized the scheme’s impact, saying, “Sharing my interview with Economic Times, where I elaborate on the life-changing ability of Mudra Yojana and why it remains an important scheme in our quest for dignity and empowerment. #10YearsOfMUDRA.” His words reflected the government’s continued commitment to ensuring that MUDRA Yojana remains a key tool in India’s pursuit of economic empowerment and self-reliance.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the success of the scheme, stating that it has helped thousands of individuals, particularly women and young entrepreneurs, realize their potential. He reiterated the government’s vision of fostering an inclusive economy where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, contributing to the nation’s progress.

As India celebrates #10YearsOfMUDRA, the scheme continues to be a cornerstone of the government’s efforts to create a more inclusive, prosperous, and empowered society.
