MAY 26: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi visited Dahod, Gujarat, on May 26, 2025, to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects totaling over ₹24,000 crore. Marking the 11th anniversary of his swearing-in as Prime Minister, Shri Modi said this day holds deep personal and national significance. He emphasized that 140 crore Indians are united in building a “Viksit Bharat” and highlighted India’s rapid advancement in manufacturing and self-reliance across various sectors.
Among the key developments, the Prime Minister inaugurated a state-of-the-art Electric Locomotive Manufacturing Plant in Dahod, which will produce 9,000 HP locomotives for domestic use and export. He flagged off the first locomotive built at the facility and celebrated Gujarat’s achievement of 100% railway electrification. He also announced the launch of the new Vande Bharat Express between Ahmedabad and Veraval and an express train between Dahod and Valsad, enhancing connectivity across the tribal belt.
Shri Modi praised Gujarat’s emergence as a high-tech manufacturing corridor, with cities like Vadodara, Kalol, Godhra, and Halol contributing to sectors ranging from aircraft to rail production. He cited Dahod’s locomotive factory as a symbol of India’s industrial rise and generator of massive employment for youth and local businesses.
He reiterated his government’s commitment to tribal welfare, noting that tribal communities have benefitted from dedicated initiatives like the PM Janman Yojana, Eklavya Model Schools, and the ₹80,000 crore ‘Dhartii Aaba Janjati Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan’. He also highlighted progress in irrigation, drinking water, and education in tribal-dominated regions like Dahod.
Referring to Operation Sindoor, the Prime Minister said it was more than a military response—it was an expression of India’s cultural values and unity. He applauded the Indian armed forces for their swift and decisive retaliation against terror threats and reaffirmed India’s resolve for peace, progress, and national security.
The event was also attended by Gujarat CM Shri Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw. Shri Modi concluded by expressing confidence in the people of Dahod and their potential to transform the district into a leading hub of development and innovation.
