PSPS GCW Gandhi Nagar organises symposium under G 20 awareness

JAMMU, MARCH 14: The G 20 club of P.S.P.S. Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar in collaboration with the Department of Geography, Department of Economics and Department of Environmental Sciences organised a symposium on “Why Sustainable Development?” under the patronage of Principal of the College, Prof. Minu Mahajan.

 

Prof. Kamlesh Salathia, HoD, Geography welcomed the speakers and the audience for the event.

 

As many as 15 speakers participated in the event and shared their opinion and insights on the topic. The aim of the symposium was to make the students aware of sustainable development at local, national and global scale. Fifteen students deliberated upon this topic.

 

Sustainable development as envisaged by the United Nations is a fundamental requirement for a sustainable global ecosystem which can only be achieved by the judicious and justified use of available natural resources. Participants also discussed the importance of 17 Sustainable Development Goals to attain sustainability.

 

The event was successfully conducted under the guidance of Prof. S. S. Parihar, convener, G 20 club. Prof. Rajni Kumari, (HoD, Economics), Prof. Geetika Goswami, Prof. Sandeep Kour, Dr. Ravinder Kumar and Prof. Shamim ensured the smooth conduct of the event. Prof. Mala Bhasin, staff secretary also graced the occasion with her valuable presence. The formal vote of thanks was presented by HoD, Environmental Sciences.
