JUNE 11: Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Sanjay Seth met with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mount Everest Expedition team in New Delhi, congratulating them on their remarkable achievement. The interaction came after the team successfully summited Mount Everest on May 18, 2025, adding another milestone to the NCC’s proud mountaineering legacy.
During the meeting, the cadets shared personal experiences from the challenging expedition. They spoke about the extensive planning and rigorous training that preceded the climb, as well as the numerous obstacles they had to overcome during the ascent. Shri Sanjay Seth commended the cadets for their extraordinary courage, determination, and teamwork. He praised the discipline and coordination displayed by the entire team, which enabled them to accomplish such a demanding mission at a young age.
This expedition marked the third successful Mount Everest summit by the NCC, following previous expeditions in 2013 and 2016. The 2025 expedition team consisted of ten cadets — five boys and five girls — with an average age of just 19. Many of them were first-time climbers, making their accomplishment even more significant. Despite their limited mountaineering experience, the cadets exhibited exceptional resilience, physical endurance, and mental strength throughout the expedition.
Supporting the young mountaineers was a highly skilled support team that included officers, junior commissioned officers (JCOs), instructors, and non-commissioned officers (NCOs). The collective efforts of this dedicated team ensured that the expedition was professionally managed and safely executed from start to finish.
The expedition was flagged off on April 3, 2025, in New Delhi by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh. Following weeks of acclimatization, training, and gradual ascent, the cadets ultimately reached the summit of the world’s highest peak, showcasing the spirit of adventure and excellence that the NCC fosters among India’s youth.
The successful completion of the expedition not only highlights the physical and mental capabilities of NCC cadets but also reflects the organization’s commitment to nurturing leadership, teamwork, and resilience in young citizens. The achievement stands as a source of inspiration for aspiring mountaineers and youth across the nation.
