May 22: In a commendable gesture of community engagement, the Railway Police Headquarters (RPHQ) Jammu extended support to Government Middle School (GMS) Chullana in District Samba by donating a water cooler to enhance the drinking water facilities for students and staff.
The contribution was made under the Civic Action Programme of Jammu and Kashmir Police, aimed at fostering positive police-public relations and improving essential infrastructure in educational institutions. The handover ceremony was held on school premises in the presence of students, teachers, and police officials.
Shri Suram Singh, SO to IGP Railways Jammu, formally presented the water cooler on behalf of RPHQ Jammu. He was accompanied by Shri Balbir Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP), and Shri Sanjay Kumar, Station House Officer (SHO), GRP Samba. The officials were warmly welcomed by the school faculty and students.
Speaking at the event, Shri Suram Singh highlighted the importance of ensuring basic amenities in schools to support a healthy learning environment. He emphasized that the Jammu and Kashmir Police remains committed not only to maintaining law and order but also to contributing meaningfully to community welfare and youth development.
The teaching staff expressed heartfelt gratitude to the RPHQ team for their thoughtful initiative. They noted that the water cooler would significantly benefit the students, especially during the ongoing summer season, ensuring access to clean and chilled drinking water throughout the day.
Local residents also appreciated the initiative, recognizing it as a step forward in strengthening community ties and enhancing the educational experience for children in remote and underserved areas.
