Sanath Nagar ESIC Campus Becomes Beacon of Affordable, High-Quality Healthcare

JUNE 12: In a shining example of India’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare, the Ministry of Labour and Employment has showcased the remarkable growth and achievements of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Medical College, Hospital, and Super Specialty Hospital at Sanath Nagar, Hyderabad. Over the last eleven years of the Modi government, this campus has transformed into a national leader in healthcare delivery, medical education, and technological innovation.

Spread across a vast 21-acre campus, with an additional 11 acres reserved for expansion, the Sanath Nagar facility serves more than 72.6 lakh insured persons and their families. Its 1,044 beds include 159 ICU beds, 45 dialysis beds, 10 modular operation theatres, and five advanced OT suites. The hospital handles a daily outpatient load exceeding 3,200 patients and records over 200 admissions daily, making it one of the busiest facilities in the ESIC network.

Since 2019, the twin hospitals have consistently earned the title of Best Performing ESIC Hospital in the 500+ beds category. Accredited by NABH (for hospital and blood bank), NABL (Entry Level), and ISO, Sanath Nagar exemplifies top-tier public healthcare standards.

The campus provides an extensive range of super-specialty services. In cardiology and CTVS, procedures such as TAVI/TAVR, CABG, device closures, and interventional electrophysiology are performed routinely. The Nephrology and Urology departments offer 24×7 dialysis and advanced kidney transplants. Neurosurgery capabilities include complex procedures like awake craniotomies and intra-operative neuro-monitoring. Other specialties such as pediatric surgery, oncology, plastic surgery, and hematology conduct advanced interventions, including bone marrow transplants, often achieving outcomes superior to national averages.

Advanced IT integration further enhances patient care through systems like PACS and the Dhanwantri HER-linked Laboratory Information System, allowing real-time diagnostics and efficient management of services such as immuno-histochemistry, molecular biology, and PCR testing.

Sanath Nagar has also adopted cutting-edge patient services, including home drug delivery, online consultations via the AAA+ app, home sample collection, and 5G-enabled ambulances, positioning itself as a leader in digital health innovation.

Beyond healthcare, the campus is a thriving hub for medical education, training over 125 MBBS students, 83 MD/MS candidates, 15 MCh, 12 DrNB, and numerous paramedical and AFIH trainees. Modern infrastructure, digital libraries, simulation labs, and expert faculty create a vibrant learning environment.

With ongoing expansion and a continuous focus on excellence, ESIC Sanath Nagar stands poised to emerge as a national Centre of Excellence in both healthcare and medical education.
