APRIL 8: In a significant boost to sports infrastructure in Jammu, Satish Sharma, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS &CA), Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Information Technology, Science and Technology, ARI and Trainings, today inaugurated four state-of-the-art Pickleball courts at KC Public School (KCPS) and an outdoor Box Cricket arena at KC Sports Club (KCSC).
The inauguration ceremony was marked by the presence of a large gathering of distinguished dignitaries, including Raju Chowdhary, Chairman of KC Public School, Arti Chowdhary, Managing Director of KCPS, Arjun Chowdhary, Managing Partner of KC Sports Club, Principal of KCPS AK Mishra, Former IAS Anil Goswami, along with hundreds of sports enthusiasts, students, and staff from both institutions. Also present were students and staff of Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School, Jodhpur, Rajasthan, who are in Jammu for a cultural exchange visit to KC Public School.
While addressing the gathering, Minister Satish Sharma expressed his appreciation for the efforts of KC Public School and KC Sports Club in adding two ultra-modern sports facilities to the city. He highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in nurturing the sporting talent of the region and providing a platform for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir to excel in various sports.
The new Pickleball courts and Box Cricket arena add to the already extensive sports infrastructure available at both institutions. Minister Sharma noted that the sports complexes of KC Public School and KC Sports Club offer a complete range of world-class indoor and outdoor sports facilities, including Cricket, Football, Basketball, Netball, Volleyball, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Table Tennis, Squash, and Swimming. With the addition of Pickleball and Box Cricket, two highly popular games worldwide, the institutions are catering to the growing interest in space-efficient sports that are particularly suitable for urban areas.
After inaugurating the new facilities, Minister Sharma tried his hand at both games, demonstrating his support for the new additions. He congratulated KC Public School for creating and maintaining sports facilities of international standards, which, in his words, “offer the youth of Jammu and Kashmir the opportunity to excel in sports of their choice.”
The inauguration event marked a milestone in the ongoing efforts to enhance sports infrastructure and provide modern facilities to foster youth development in Jammu and Kashmir. With such facilities, Jammu is set to become a hub for sporting excellence, offering its youth the tools they need to succeed on both national and international stages.
