SBM: DC Bandipora flags-off ‘Swachta Karvaan’

BANDIPORA, MAY 10: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad Wednesday flagged-off the ‘Swachta Karvaan’ as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) at Bandipora.

 

The Swachta Karvaan is an initiative of the government to raise awareness about cleanliness and sanitation across the country.

 

Besides Deputy Director Rural Sanitation, Qazi Masood, the event was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life, including PRI, school children, government officials, members of local NGOs, and citizens. The participants took a pledge to keep their surroundings clean and make a positive impact on the environment.

 

During the event, Dr. Owais emphasized the importance of cleanliness and sanitation in improving the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities. He also spoke about the various initiatives taken by the government to promote cleanliness and hygiene, including the SBM.

 

The Swachta Karvaan will travel to different parts of Bandipora over the next few days to raise awareness about cleanliness and sanitation. The participants will also engage in various activities such as cleaning drives, awareness campaigns, and interactive sessions with local communities.

 

Dr Owais urged people to maintain the system of door to door waste collection and collect the waste only in dustbins so that the surroundings, especially water resources, should be kept hygienic and clean.

 

Deputy Director Rural Sanitation on the occasion said that flagging off of Swachta Karvaan is a significant step towards achieving the goals of the SBM in the district. He said they hope that the initiative will inspire people to become more conscious of their surroundings and take proactive steps towards promoting cleanliness and hygiene in their communities.
