APRIL 29:
As part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) initiative, the Social Welfare Department Reasi, through SANKALP – Hub for Empowerment of Women (HEW), organized two outreach programmes to support girl education and empowerment in remote areas.

The drives were conducted under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Sachin Sharma. The first event took place at Government Middle School Sarh, Block Mahore, where school bags were distributed to underprivileged girls from marginalized communities.

In a similar effort, the HEW team visited Government Higher Secondary School, Laitar in Block Pouni. Alongside the distribution of school bags to girls from nearby schools, a sanitary vending machine was installed to promote menstrual hygiene. The participants were also sensitized on hygiene awareness and encouraged to continue their education with confidence and determination.

These initiatives reflect the department’s ongoing commitment to supporting girls’ education and well-being in underserved regions. The Social Welfare Department reaffirmed its focus on conducting similar programs to provide essential resources and promote equal opportunities for young girls across the district.
