JUNE 04: Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu & Kashmir, Surinder Choudhary, chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the J&K Resident Commission in New Delhi to assess the progress of key development projects under the Public Works Department (PWD). The session focused on infrastructure upgrades, hospitality services, and promotion of the Union Territory’s image at the national level.
During the meeting, the Deputy CM emphasized the need for timely completion of all ongoing infrastructure and construction projects. He directed officials to maintain the highest standards of quality and accountability in every stage of execution, reiterating that delays and compromise in quality will not be tolerated.
Particular attention was given to the development works associated with the Resident Commission, which serves as a crucial point of interface between the Union Territory and the national capital. The Deputy CM stressed the importance of upgrading hospitality and public interface services to reflect the values and warmth of Jammu & Kashmir.
Surinder Choudhary also urged officials posted at the Resident Commission to act as ambassadors of Jammu & Kashmir. He called upon them to project the UT as a safe, vibrant, and welcoming destination for tourists, investors, and dignitaries visiting from across the country and abroad.
He further underlined that the image of J&K is shaped not only by infrastructure but by the behavior, efficiency, and commitment of those who represent it. Therefore, he encouraged staff to remain courteous, proactive, and professional in every aspect of their responsibilities.
The meeting concluded with a directive to fast-track pending works, improve service standards, and ensure all development efforts align with the broader vision of a modern, progressive Jammu & Kashmir. The Deputy CM’s message was clear: infrastructure must reflect ambition, hospitality must reflect culture, and every official must reflect pride in the Union Territory.
