GANDERBAL, MARCH 23: Following the directions of Secretary District Legal Service Authority Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak and under the guidance of Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan, Essar-Ul-Nabi, the Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan in collaboration with Human Rights & Anti Corruption Unit J&K observed World Water Day today here at Sultania High School Thune Kangan.
Besides, Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan, Tehsildar Kangan, BDC Chairperson and other respectable personalities from the concerned area participated in the said awareness programme.
While speaking on the occasion Chairman Tehsil Legal Services Committee Kangan said that water is a precious gift of Almighty and we shall take necessary steps to preserve it. He said that Human beings have polluted the water bodies and as a result the world is facing Water scarcity.
He said that although in Kashmir we are not facing as much problem of water scarcity as in the other parts of the Country or world but that does not mean that we shall not take responsibility to preserve it. He further said that Deforestation, Soil Erosion floods, Climate Change and water scarcity are interrelated with each other and once we create one problem once among them it leads to another problem.
He urged the participants to take pledge to protect water resources and preserve it for our future generations. He also urged teachers to create awareness among students regarding the protection of natural resources.
Advocate Sajad Ahmad also appraised the gathering about the importance of water in our lives and presented detailed statistics about the water scarcity facing by the world.
Tehsildar Kangan also spoke on the said topic and had an interactive session with students of the said institution.
