A joint traffic regulation enforcement drive was conducted today in Jammu North tehsil under the supervision of Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Ansuya Jamwal, with the overall direction of District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya. The crackdown, led by ADM Jamwal and SP Rural Brijesh Sharma, focused on enforcing traffic laws and curbing violations. The operation was carried out by a combined team from the district administration, consisting of officials from the Motor Vehicles Department, District Police, and Traffic Police.
As part of the drive, nearly 280 vehicles were inspected, leading to the issuance of 71 challans for various traffic violations. These included tinted windows, triple riding, failure to wear helmets or seat belts, unauthorized music systems in public transport vehicles, pressure horns on motorcycles, modified tyres and lights, and tampered number plates. Authorities also seized 16 vehicles for more serious infractions, removed black films from car windows, and dismantled loudspeakers installed in matadors. The total amount collected from fines during the crackdown is estimated to be ₹1,70,800.
The enforcement team was composed of key officials, including ARTO FS Bipen Singh Charak, Deputy SP Traffic North Anubhuti, Naib Tehsildar Saleem, Motor Vehicle Inspectors Azad Hussain and Amanish Sharma, MVTA Taranjot Singh, DTI Traffic Showket Amain, and PSI Chinore PP Arjun Chouhan, along with personnel from the traffic and police departments. The team worked diligently to ensure that violations were addressed promptly and efficiently, reinforcing the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.
In addition to penalizing violators, the drive also served an educational purpose. Officials took the opportunity to educate commuters and vehicle owners on the importance of following traffic laws. ADM Ansuya Jamwal, speaking on the occasion, stressed the significance of road discipline and encouraged drivers to comply with the Motor Vehicles Act to avoid penalties and, more importantly, to enhance road safety.
This joint enforcement drive is part of a broader initiative to improve road safety in the region. Similar enforcement drives will continue throughout the month of March across the district. These ongoing efforts aim to reduce traffic violations, promote awareness, and ensure the safety of all road users in Jammu, creating a safer environment for everyone on the road.
