UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY 04: Career Counselling, Guidance and Placement (CCGP) Cell of Government College for Women, Udhampur today organised an awareness lecture on “Physical Education and related Career Avenues” under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative of Govt. of India. The College Principal Prof. (Dr.) Monika Sharma, was the chief guest of the occasion. She appreciated and motivated the organisers to conduct such activities on regular intervals. Prof. Yash Paul, (HOD History) welcomed the chief guest and the resource person of today’s event. Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Physical Director of GCW Udhampur. In his presentation, he made the students aware about the various Career opportunities in the field of physical Education. He also enlightened the students that Physical education, exercise science and sports field are amongst the fastest growing professions in contemporary science. He also made students familiar with various universities offering undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral courses in physical education. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Shama Rani. (Dept. of Dogri) As many as 60 students attended the lecture. The whole event was organised by Arun Gupta, Librarian and Dr. Amit Kumar, Department of Physics.

KISHTWAR, FEBRUARY 04: In compliance with the directions of the Office of the Commissionerate FDA J&K, a team of Enforcement Officers of Food DFCO Kishtwar today convened an interactive meeting with the members of Farmer Associations of Kishtwar.

 

The team was led by Food Safety Officer Kishtwar Prithpal Singh accompanied by Food Safety Officer Sajad Hussain and Officials.

 

The meeting was attended by President Rahul Anoop Sen; Vice President, Manoj Kumar; Coordinator Anil Kumar of “Saffran Agriculture Wing Poochal Kishtwar, besides MD Arsalan Hamid; Directors Iqra Fayaz, Mohd. Iqbal, Munshi Ram, Naringan Kumar, Ranjeet Singh Parihar and Sahil Sen of Kishtwari Zaffran Farmers Co-operative limited Kishtwar.

 

During the interactive meeting, a detailed insight was given about the Agricultural products, which come under the ambit of FSSAI. These products include Saffran, Walnut, Crops, Vegetables, Fruits, Nuts, Pickles, James and livestock products besides goat, cattle, horse, Sheep, milk and eggs upon which a major chunk of rural society depend for their livelihood.

 

The Food safety officers stressed for the FSSAI registration, Rules, Regulations, packing, Labelling and the preservation of quality of these products as per the set norms of FSSAI.

 

It was informed in the meeting that the FSSAI has made it compulsory for the individuals and entities to obtain an FSSAI license and sought compliance to the regulations of Packaging and labelling, Hygiene, and Safety of the Food products produced by the Farmers.

 

The general awareness was also imparted to the Farmers and Food Business Operators, traders. They were asked to embrace continual improvement regarding Food Safety and avert illicit practices like adulteration which contaminate the foods particularly the saffron which contains medicinal propriety also.

 

Food Safety Officers Prithpal Singh and Sajad Hussain threw light on the basic point to upgrade the quality and safety of the products as per the guidelines under FSS Act which encompasses recommended steps like proper Food handling, preparing, storing the Agriculture produce/Food products in the best possible way.

 

The traders on the occasion were encouraged to undergo the FoSTaC training which has been made mandatory for every trader.

 

Awareness was imparted to members of farmers Associations regarding judicious usage of preservatives, permitted Colors, Chemicals and fertilizers to ensure health and safety of food items.
