APRIL 28: As part of the ongoing inter-school zonal level competitions across the 18 zones of Baramulla district, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Baramulla successfully organized a series of exciting and competitive sports events, celebrating the talents and energy of young athletes.
Zone Fatehgarh hosted an engaging Inter-School Yoga Competition for boys under 14 and under 17 age groups. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 50 students, who demonstrated their flexibility, concentration, and dedication to physical and mental well-being through a range of yoga postures and sequences.
Simultaneously, Zone Singpora Pattan buzzed with intellectual excitement as it hosted a highly competitive Chess Tournament at High School Singpora Pattan. Fifty young strategists participated in the competition, showcasing remarkable planning, patience, and tactical skills on the chessboard in the under 14 and under 17 boys’ categories.
Adding to the festive sporting atmosphere, Zone Tangmarg organized its own Inter-School Zonal Level Chess Competition for the under 14 and under 17 boys. The event, held at Government High School Chandilora, attracted more than 30 participants who competed keenly for top honors. Winners from the events were awarded certificates as a token of appreciation for their outstanding performances and spirit of sportsmanship.
These sporting activities are a part of the Youth Services and Sports Baramulla’s broader mission to promote holistic development among students by fostering both physical fitness and mental agility. The department aims to cultivate a culture of sportsmanship, healthy competition, and overall personality development among the youth at the grassroots level.
