SEP 16:The 58th Engineers’ Day was commemorated with great enthusiasm at the Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI] Jammu Local Centre, marking the birth anniversary of legendary engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya.

The event was graced by Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary, who paid glowing tributes to Sir Visvesvaraya’s monumental contributions to engineering and national development. In his address, the Deputy CM emphasized the critical role engineers play in shaping modern India, urging them to design innovative, sustainable, and technology-driven solutions to address contemporary challenges.

The celebration also featured the release of awards, recognizing distinguished contributions in the field of engineering and technology. As a highlight of the event, the IEI newsletter and a new book titled “Musings Unabated” were officially launched. The publication, reflecting on the evolving landscape of engineering and innovation, was well received by attendees.

Speakers throughout the program echoed the need for sustainable infrastructure, green technology, and resilient systems, aligning with the broader national vision of a ‘Techade’ — a decade fueled by technological advancements.

The event not only celebrated engineering excellence but also served as a platform to inspire young engineers to actively participate in nation-building through their work and values.

The IEI Jammu Centre continues to play a pivotal role in promoting engineering excellence, professional ethics, and collaborative growth among the engineering fraternity in the region.
